The Greater Tzaneen Municipality proposed the expansion of the existing Agatha Cemetery in Tzaneen, which was nearing full capacity. Polygon undertook a Basic Assessment and Water Use Licence Application for the expansion of the cemetery onto an undeveloped area of indigenous vegetation on the same property, along with the establishment of a low-level bridge to provide access to the new section of the cemetery.
Environmental Authorisation was issued in 2017, and also in 2017 the Department of Water and Sanitation confirmed that the low-level bridge was covered by the General Authorisation. Polygon undertook environmental compliance monitoring during construction from 2018 to 2019.
